On Friday, I made Hot Buttered Rum mix.

I was craving Chinese-ish food the other day... actually, I was craving vegetables, which I haven't been eating much of lately.  I hit the grocery store with only a vague idea of a stir-fry in mind... then I found yaki soba noodles, and thought that would hit the spot. So, I ended up getting a bunch of veggies, and some beef for the stir-fry, but then started thinking about an appetizer. I wanted something meat based, and I certainly didn't have time to make egg rolls or wontons from scratch, so I settled on chicken wings.

I was at home the other day, simultaneously hanging Christmas lights, doing homework, and feeding the dogs (I do not know why anyone might suggest that I have ADD) when I passed by the TV, on which an episode of Emeril was showing. After wowing over how fat he is now, I stopped to see what he was making... he was making crepes.

This was my Thanksgiving Day menu, which I hosted at my house. I use the term "hosted" very loosely, since the only guests were my three dogs, and one other human.

Yes, I know... I am crazy. Certifiably insane.  It's not like work, school, two rescue groups, band, the website business, and gaming doesn't keep me busy enough... but I have to have a project to obsess over. God forbid I have a free minute.

I am going to make a Civil-War era gown, complete with underpinnings.  The awesome news is that they make PATTERNS for this!! Can you believe it??? No more draping, making my own patterns, and doing it the hard way!

Saturday, we are bringing in greyhounds from the track to process them and place them in foster homes.  I'll be working in the medical tent, drawing blood for the blood tests.  Then, Rio is going to help test the new greyhounds to see if they are small dog safe or not.

On Sunday,  I am transporting Rio Frio to Baker to meet a Crest-Care rep from Las Vegas, who will be taking Rio to his forever home in Vegas.

...of the accident.  Two years ago, my girlfriend and I went to GirlBar in West Hollywood.  On November 11, 2006, at approximately 3:00am on Saturday morning, we hit a tree head on, at an estimated 60 mph. There were no skid marks at the scene.  The police believed she fell asleep at the wheel.

I had a very hard time dealing with not only the accident itself, but also the aftermath.

I subscribe to a few recipe websites, and one of them emails me a random recipe every day.  A few months ago, one of the recipes was for Polish Lasagne. It looked really good - unusual, but I could see it working.  The dish has lasagne noodles, and it's layered like traditional lasagne, but it's made with a mashed potato / cream cheese mixture, and then topped with sauteed onions.

Before I even finished the french gown, I was at Joann's picking up god knows what, and I wandered into the fabric section.  I found a fabric that I really loved (mostly because it was so lightweight and cool compared to the heavy french gown) and took a few samples.  The more I looked at the gold, the more it grew on me.

I have fostered greyhounds for the last 5 years, but now my place is too small to have another big dog full time.  Trust me, I know - I babysat my friend's two greyhounds for 6 days last month, it is a TIGHT squeeze.   It was a lot of fun having them, and they are wonderful dogs, but I was still glad to turn them back over to her and have room to walk around in my house again. : )
